It might not be easy for the Bearcats this season despite a top performance in 2011.

Richard Cirminiello of Scout.com writes:

Cincinnati delivered the much-needed bounce back season that it desperately sought in 2011, winning 10 games, but also lost to graduation an enormous amount of talent on both sides of the ball from that squad. In fact, of the eight players named First or Second Team All-Big East, only P Pat O’Donnell and S Drew Frey remain on campus.

He added:

With fresh starters littered all over the depth chart, the coach and his staff need to show that they’re no one-hit wonders. Considering the extent of the holes in the backfield, along the offensive line and in the front seven, it will not be an easy goal.

As for South Florida, BJ Daniels needs to become more consistent, writes Cirminiello, and at near 3/1 odds, the price might be a little too low for betting purposes.

South Florida has been waiting for its physically gifted quarterback, B.J. Daniels, to put it all together in Tampa, but he’s only been able to deliver in spurts. Consistency in the passing game has been an issue for the senior, who’s been a better runner than thrower throughout his career.

Louisville may have what it takes at better than 2/1 odds.

C.L. Brown of the Louisville Courier Journal writes:

Outside observers seem to agree. Despite the Cards’ youth, they are No. 25 in The Associated Press’ preseason poll — the first time they’ve cracked the Top 25 since 2007 — and are the media’s heavy favorites to win the Big East.

“When you’re picked so high, you’re usually a junior-senior team,” Coach Charlie Strong said.
