Odds to Win the AFC South Division 2016 – Houston Texans
The Houston Texans odds of winning the AFC South division in 2016 were set at +220 for a potential payout of $220 on every $100 bet or $22 for every $10 bet.
Playing in a weak division provides value for the Texans at this price but the quarterback situation is questionable though promising.
ESPN noted in the waning weeks of August that the Broncos transplant Brock Osweiler is earning the trust of the offensive line.
Veteran Chris Clark said of Osweiler thus far: “He’s looking amazing, man. I think he’s doing a great job managing the game, putting us in the right places, doing what he does. He’s doing an excellent job. He really is.”
For his part, Osweiler says he has felt comfortable with the offensive lineman to this point.
“Those offensive linemen up front have been working extremely hard, going all the way back to OTAs, even before the pads went on, with their communication, their calls, who they’re working to, and you can definitely see it carry over. That front five, it’s a great group of guys and I love playing behind them.”
Houston’s success last season hinged mainly on its defense, as Walter Football rightfully notes:
Houston's offense barely did anything in terms of getting the team to the playoffs. The defense led the way, claiming an epically bad AFC South, thanks mostly to Andrew Luck's injury. With the scoring unit bound to establish more leads this upcoming season, the defense will have a chance to be even more dominant.
