Odds to Win the AFC West Division 2016 – Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs odds of winning the AFC West division in 2016 were set at +165 for a potential payout of $165 on every $100 bet or $16.50 for every $10 bet. They just barely nudge out the Broncos as the favorite to win the division.
Safety Eric Berry reported to the Kansas City Chiefs' practice facility Sunday, signed a one-year contract worth about $10.8 million and will be with the team at practice on Monday where he was expected to play in Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers.
Berry, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, is considered the Chiefs' franchise player.
"He's in great shape. It's great to have him here," coach Andy Reid said of Berry.
Last season started off on a bad foot with the Chiefs losing five of their first six games, only to go on and win ten straight and one Playoff game (their first post season victory since 1994).
Alex Smith is not a flashy quarterback by any stretch of the imagination but he still manages to get the job done.
Eric Eager of Pro Football Focus writes:
The Alex Smith case has always been an enigmatic one – with play that is consistent enough to build a winning team around (as his teams’ records of 49-21-1 over the last five years would attest), but with a lack of high-end production that leaves you wanting more. After a slow start to the 2015 season, Smith graded positively in all but three games in the Chief’s 11-game winning streak. His elusiveness (which earned a 91.7 run grade in 2015, seventh among quarterbacks) has been a nice aspect of the Chiefs’ running game, as well as buffered against some of Kansas City’s shaky offensive line play since he took over in 2013 (although he was responsible for nine of his hurries last season). It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs can reach the upper echelon of the AFC with Smith as their quarterback, as they appear committed to him at least for the near future.
SI.com’s Eric Single calls wide receiver Chris Conley “Kansas City’s best hope for a complement to Jeremy Maclin within a passing game starved for big plays”.
This is truly a talented squad that on paper at least looks like a value play to win the division.

Is it time for a new sheriff in the AFC West? The Chiefs seem poised to step into the divisional breach, although Denver’s defense will have something to say about that. If 2015’s schedule was weird and winding, with a November “home” game in London keeping the club away from Arrowhead for more than a month, then 2016’s dance card is more straightforward — though no less challenging. Smith and (Derrick) Johnson aren’t getting any younger, so time is of the essence. If the Chiefs can match the ball-hawking form they showcased the second half of last season, that time might be now.
