The problems for the team are at linebacker where they have no experience and at safety where all they have is Ryan Simmons.

And it is not like the Big 12 is as good as the SEC so the Oklahoma State Cowboys can compete. The problem is the schedule that includes a brutal opener against the defending national champs, the Florida State Seminoles.
