Sunday, 8:20 pm Eastern – NBC
The Green Bay Packers will try and slow down the New England Patriots on Sunday night in a NFL game that can be seen on NBC. The Patriots have been unstoppable in recent weeks and quarterback Tom Brady is looking like the league MVP. This was supposed to be a matchup between two high profile quarterbacks but it is very likely that Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not play in this game due to a concussion he suffered last week.
The Packers have a very good defense and they are going to need it if they expect to keep this game close on Sunday night. Green Bay is not likely to score that many points with backup quarterback Matt Flynn under center. That puts the pressure on Green Bay’s defense to contain Brady and the Patriots and no one has done that recently. If the Packers lose this football game and the Bears win on Monday night at Minnesota then Chicago clinches the NFC North.
The Patriots come into this game with the league’s best record at 11-2 and the top offense in the NFL. In the last six games they have averaged almost 40 points per game. In his last eight games, Brady has thrown 19 touchdown passes and no interceptions. When Brady is under center at Gillette Stadium the Patriots don’t lose. He has won his last 26 regular season starts, which is an NFL record. The Patriots are also superb against NFC teams having won 21 of their last 22.
The Packers and Patriots have met eight times in history with each team winning four times. The last meeting came in 2006 when the Patriots routed Green Bay at Lambeau by a score of 35-0. The Packers did win at New England back in 2002 by a score of 28-10. Here is more football betting numbers for Sunday’s game. The Packers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in December.
