Panthers-Steelers Spread Moves to 14.5
In one of the most lopsided matchups of the season, the Panthers-Steelers spread opened at Pittsburgh -13 and has pretty quickly moved to -14.5 ahead of Thursday night’s game. Some books even offered a line of -15. As one might expect, the majority of action on the spread was going Pittsburgh’s way at a 65 percent clip. The money line was off at most books, probably since few people expect Carolina to beat the Steelers outright, especially at home. The OVER 37 was getting more than 70 percent of the betting action.
Though this is the second to last game of the regular season and Pittsburgh is already guaranteed a spot in the Playoffs, they will still be looking to win the AFC North title. That will happen if Pittsburgh beats Carolina Thursday night. The Steelers own the tiebreaker against Baltimore.
"We've just got to win two more games, very winnable games, teams we match up well against," safety Ryan Clark said. "We still can win this division."
The question is, just how lopsided a game will this end up being?
The Panthers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
The Panthers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games as an underdog.
The Panthers are 0-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
It is interesting to note that Carolina is 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games in December.
And how have the Steelers performed as double digit favorites? They are just 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games as a home favorite of 10.5 or greater.
The last time Carolina won, they lost by 10 points in St. Louis the following week. They also failed to cover in that game.
