The Panthers-Vikings point spread had Minnesota as a -2.5 home favoriteNote that this number has dipped to -2 as the temperatures have dipped to 7 below zero wind chill.  These conditions do not favor Carolina or the OVER.

Carolina Panthers 3-7-1 SU, 6-5 ATS
The Carolina Panthers still have a really good chance to make the playoffs because they play in the NFC South. They actually still control their own destiny because they have games remaining against New Orleans and Atlanta. The team was in the same situation in some respects a year ago when they played the Minnesota Vikings and they got a big win. “It was one of those games last year that we needed to win, and we did,” fullback Mike Tolbert said, “We’re in the same situation. We need this one. We can’t get a streak started without the first one. We need to go out and put a good game together.”

Minnesota Vikings 4-7 SU, 6-5 ATS

The Vikings are not going to make the playoffs but they are 2-1 against NFC South teams this season with wins against Atlanta and Tampa Bay and a loss to New Orleans. The offense has been weak with rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater struggling behind an offensive line that has allowed 22 sacks.

NFL betting used to be built mostly around teams. Bettors looked at spreads, totals, moneylines, injuries, weather and coaching matchups. Those pieces are still there, but the modern football betting board is much more player-driven than it used to be.
