The Patriots vs. Chiefs Monday Night Football betting odds had New England as a -3.5 favorite.  The total on this game was 45.

Patriots 2-1 SU, 1-2 ATS

The New England Patriots are 2-1 but they really haven’t looked very good, especially on offense. Quarterback Tom Brady is a future Hall of Famer but he is simply not a great quarterback anymore. The team is actually better at running the ball than they are at throwing it. The offense overall hasn’t been very good as they are averaging just 22 points per game but the defense has been solid, allowing just 16 points per game.

Chiefs 1-2 SU, 1-2 ATS

The Kansas City Chiefs got a big win last week against the Miami Dolphins and now they have hope of turning the corner as they are expected to get running back Jamaal Charles back this week. The defense played well last week and they could have success on Monday against a pedestrian New England Patriots offense. It is worth nothing, however, that the Kansas City Chiefs are the only team in the league not to have forced a turnover this season.

NFL betting used to be built mostly around teams. Bettors looked at spreads, totals, moneylines, injuries, weather and coaching matchups. Those pieces are still there, but the modern football betting board is much more player-driven than it used to be.
