Wide receiver Percy Harvin has been traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the New York Jets in a move that appeared to catch many off guard, fantasy owners and those with future bets on the Seahawks in particular. Harvin was traded for a conditional mid-round draft pick.

Seattle’s odds of winning the highly competitive NFC West have diminished somewhat.  They had been a minus favorite but were listed at +120 to pay out $120 on every $100 bet as of Friday evening at Gambling911.com endorsed Sportsbook.ag.

For fantasy players, the Harvin trade will have more of a serious impact.

From NFL.com:

Unless Mornhinweg opens up some super-secret pages of the playbook to specifically unleash Harvin's talents, he's a WR3 at best in fantasy until he proves otherwise and we see how the Jets intend to use him.

NFL betting used to be built mostly around teams. Bettors looked at spreads, totals, moneylines, injuries, weather and coaching matchups. Those pieces are still there, but the modern football betting board is much more player-driven than it used to be.
