Raiders-Chargers Line

The Raiders-Chargers line was coming in at -7 in favor of San Diego for the first Thursday night game of the 2011 regular NFL season.  More than 90 percent of those betting the spread early were backing San Diego here.  You can bet on this game here now

Both teams sport identical 4-4 records, however, the oddsmakers (as well as the betting public) believe that the Chargers will be a much more hungry team in this rivalry despite losing to Oakland in both of last year’s head-to-heads.

Oakland has dropped its last two after losing their starting quarterback, Jason Campbell, to an injury and both games were lost at home.  Carson Palmer had his first start against Denver this past weekend and couldn’t get the job done.

Meanwhile, the Chargers have lost three games straight and have fewer excuses other than having to face off against more solid teams.

While neither team may be deserving of your bet, the total is something that should be looked at closely.  14 of 18 games in this series have gone UNDER THE TOTAL since 1992.

The head coach search has become somewhat clouded in Jacksonville and Las Vegas considering one dismissed its GM yesterday and the other hired a GM on Wednesday. Both potentially open the door for Liam Coen should he not sign extension with the Bucs.
