Swansea Manchester City

Swansea will play Manchester City on Monday night 14 August, 2011 and one would think most of the bets were coming in on the favorite but punters are seeing value in Swansea City and giving them nearly 30 percent of the action.  The reason mostly has to do with price.

One can bet Swansea at 888Sport.com at odds of 12 to 1.  The value alone makes this worth a small bet even if the odds of Swansea winning are stacked against them.

If you can’t stomach betting a win for Swansea City, how about the draw at 5 to 1 odds?

Three of the four “Big Five” (Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea) did not win their Week 1 Premier League game.  Each of those teams ended up in a draw.  This has many a punter believing Monday could see an upset.

Manchester City have drawn all five of their home games on the opening day of PL seasons, with four of those games ending 1-1.

Carlos Tevez is sitting out this game and his future remains uncertain.

Brendan Rodgers: "With this group of players we are more than capable of playing at this level. It's been a big achievement getting here but it will be an even bigger achievement staying here. We've had a fantastic pre-season, now we are really looking forward to the start of the season and the challenge that lies ahead."

51% of the goals Swansea scored last season came from their midfield, the highest proportion in the Championship.

None of this is to say we believe Swansea City will beat Manchester City.  G911.co just sees the value in backing the underdog based on the price.  The draw, we feel, has tremendous value at still a great price.

The odds are very much stacked against Swansea actually winning.

Swansea have lost their last five games on the opening day of the season, the current longest such run of any side in the four tiers of English football.

Man City have won nine and lost none of their last 10 Premier league home games.

G911.co notes that Captain Garry Monk is out for Swansea.
