  • RGIII suffered a fractured bone in his shoulder and will be out for eight games
  • ”We will get an opportunity to see where he is in four weeks and take it from there,” coach Hue Jackson said
  • Browns had opened with 20-1 odds of winning the AFC North
  • Josh McCown to replace RGIII

Chances are the books took some money on the Cleveland Browns winning the AFC North despite the likes of Pittsburgh and Cincinnati battling for that title (not to mention Baltimore looking okay after Week 1).

Surely the arrival of Robert Griffin III (RGIII) would ensure things could possibly not get any worse, right?

WRONG!

It was announced Monday that Griffin has a fractured bone in his left shoulder and will miss at least the next eight games

Browns coach Hue Jackson was asked if Griffin is done for the season.

"No, I think he'll be designated for IR," Jackson said. "We'll get an opportunity to see where he is four weeks from now and go from there."

Griffin suffered the injury after being tackled at the end of a run with 3:41 left Sunday against the Eagles.

"It's very unfortunate, Robert came in and has worked extremely hard to learn our offense and earn the respect of his teammates," Jackson said in a statement released by the team. "This is a tough loss because everyone has seen how invested he has been in this team and his dedication to the work needed to improve his craft.”

The Browns had entered the season with long 20-1 odds of winning the AFC North.

Josh McCown will take over as the starting quarterback for the first half of the season.
