The online sportsbook BetUS.com is claiming that the San Francisco 49ers are a “lock” to beat and cover the spread against the Seattle Seahawks later Sunday afternoon.  Gambling911.com says:  “Not so fast”.

“Always be a little bit skeptical of bookies offering ‘locks’,” advises Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.  “These guys wouldn’t exactly be in business if they wanted you to win.”

The San Francisco 49ers were getting more than 90 percent of the action against the Seattle Seahawks heading into Sunday morning.  They were the second most wagered on team after the Green Bay Packers.  BetUS.com offered the line at 49ers -3

Ian James, an analyst who works for BetUS.com, offered up a strong case for San Francisco to beat and cover the Seahawks on Sunday.

“The 49ers know all about rebuilding as they’ve endured some tough seasons, but under the tutelage of Mike Singletary, this team appears poised to challenge for the NFC West crown.

“49er fans are also expecting big things out of tight end Vernon Davis, who really took that next step last year with 78 receptions and 13 TD’s.

“We don’t have to tell you much about Frank Gore, who was their all around offensive leader last season, amassing 1120 rushing yards, 52 receptions and 13 total touchdowns.”

James suggests that Seattle is too focused right now on rebuilding their franchise.

They just released their top receiver, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and have 27 players on the roster that are playing for Seattle just one year.

“To put in perspective just how many shake ups there have been in Seattle, they have made nearly 140 transactions since head coach Pete Carroll was hired, which is way more than any other team,” James points out.  “Not only that, but their offensive line coach, a very crucial member of the coaching staff, quit just weeks before the season opener.”
