It’s official, the red hot but severely banged up Arizona Cardinals will start Ryan Lindley as quarterback and oddsmakers responded with a -8 betting line for the Seahawks-Cardinals game.

"I think he's a little bit more ready right now having been back in the system for a while," head coach Bruce Arians said. "Like I said before, I think Logan's going to be a great player. Sometimes you can put guys in positions to fail. I want him to succeed when he plays.

"I think Ryan gives us a great opportunity."

Maybe so but the oddsmakers and betting public are not feeling it.  80% of the early action was on Seattle.

Drew Stanton injured his leg in Thursday night’s game against St. Louis.  He could be out two to four weeks, meaning Ryan might have to carry Arizona to start the Playoffs.  The Cardinals officially qualified for the Playoffs after Dallas beat Philadelphia Sunday night.  A tie in that game would have prevented Arizona from securing a spot in the post season at least for another week.

NFL betting used to be built mostly around teams. Bettors looked at spreads, totals, moneylines, injuries, weather and coaching matchups. Those pieces are still there, but the modern football betting board is much more player-driven than it used to be.
