A number of the SEC teams lost top players to the National Football League. Favorites to win appear below.
ALABAMA - National Title Odds: 6/1 SEC Odds: 1/1 O/U Win Total: 10.5 OVER -145
Bama has still not decided who will replace QB AJ McCarron after his departure to the NFL. Expect RB TJ Yeldon to shoulder the load on offense. The defense lost more than its fair share of talent, including the Butkus Award winner in LB CJ Mosley, who is also in the NFL. But the Crimson Tide does not rebuild, it reloads.
AUBURN - National Title Odds: 15/1 SEC Odds: 3/1 O/U Win Total: 9.5 OVER -115
Nick Marshall just might be the best QB in the SEC this season. He was a very dynamic dual threat last year, completing 59.4 percent of his passes for 1,976 yards with 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 1,068 yards and 12 TDs. The defense needs to improve though after finishing 86th in the country a year ago.
South Carolina - National Title Odds: 20/1 SEC Odds: 3/1 O/U Win Total: 9.5 OVER -125
Another guy on Heisman watch is Gamecocks RB Mike Davis. They will certainly lean on him offensively. This has been the best three-year stretch in school history, as South Carolina has won 33 games with three Top 10 finishes in the AP Poll.
LSU - National Title Odds: 22/1 SEC Odds: 3/1 O/U Win Total: 9 OVER -115
The Tigers lose their leading passer, rusher and top three receivers from last year to the NFL. The team will have to rely even more than usual on its powerful offensive line and quality defense this season. LSU should be capable of another 10-win season, but taking down Auburn and Alabama will be a tough task with the inexperience the Tigers have at the skill positions.
GEORGIA - National Title Odds: 24/1 SEC Odds: 3/1 O/U Win Total: 9 OVER -125
The Bulldogs will start junior quarterback Hutson Mason after losing long-time starter Aaron Murray to the NFL. But running back Todd Gurley should have a huge breakout season and could be a dark-horse candidate for the Heisman Trophy.
