The South Carolina Gamecocks odds to win the 2011 BCS Championship had been listed at 75/1 for a potential payout of $7500 on every $100 bet.  Those odds will almost certainly be slashed with their shock victory over the number one ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday.

South Carolina had been ranked number 19 and 4-1 coming into this game.  They were also a +7 ½ underdog getting only around 10 percent of the public betting action.

Stephen Garcia’s three touchdown passes - two to Alshon Jeffrey, and one to Marcus Lattimore – helped solidify the win.  Alabama had come into this game with 19 straight victories.  This was also the first time that the Gamecocks have ever beaten a number one ranked team after four previous attempts.

The Crimson Tide had been just shy of 3/1 odd favorites to win the 2011 BCS Championship prior to this game.  Odds are typically updated by Monday.  Once a bet is placed, the odds are locked in for the remainder of the season.

Alabama was likely to remain the 2011 BCS Championship favorite while South Carolina would probably still have long odds.  Dan Shapiro reporting for Gambling911.com.
