Last year the Gamecocks dismantled Mizzou as a -10.5 home favorite.  They would have been around a -5 point road favorite if this game had been played in Missouri then.

This is a much improved Tigers team that has played well despite battling the injury bug.  Last week Maty Mauk stepped in for injured senior James Franklin, passing for 295 yards and a touchdown while adding a rushing score to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors.  It is Missouri’s defense, however, that is winning games and could give South Carolina fits on Saturday.  Michael Sam leads the SEC in sacks (9) and tackles for loss (13).

Missouri has forced a turnover in 37 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the FBS. The Tigers' 14 interceptions are tied for the most in the nation.  The Tigers have not started 8-0 since going 11-0 in 1960 under legendary coach Dan Devine.

The Tigers are 6-0-1 Against The Spread in their last 7 games overall and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 conference games, though they are an unimpressive 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

South Carolina ranks 21st in the nation in total defense (342.6 yards per game) but have been mostly underperforming this season and are in danger of falling from the rankings.  South Carolina is 1-5 Against The Spread in its last 6 games.  They are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.  The Gamecocks are 10-4 Against The Spread in their last 14 games following a ATS loss, however.
