The Texas vs. Nebraska spread has opened at Cornhuskers -9 ½. Trending suggests that the line was moving upwards with some books offering a line of -10.  Early action had Nebraska getting around 65 percent with this game expected to hover around 60/40 action in favor of the Cornhuskers come game time.

Texas was ranked #21 two weeks ago before falling to #8 Oklahoma by a score of 28-20.  They had their bye last week.

Texas lost two straight for the first time since 2007 when it fell to Kansas State and Oklahoma.

Nebraska clobbered Kansas State in their Thursday night game.

Taylor Martinez is only the third player this year to rush for 200 yards and four touchdowns in a game. He also threw for another score.  Martinez finished with 241 rushing yards, most by a QB and eighth-most in a single game in Nebraska history.

"Pretty much everything we ran was clicking pretty good," Martinez said. "I was making the right reads. I just do what I can do -- make plays."

Texas is certainly favored in the long term stats coming into this game where they have beaten Nebraska in the last 5 games of this series.  Keep in mind though that Nebraska was a 14-point home underdog last year against Texas.

Short term, the Longhorns have been hurting. Texas is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games, 1-6 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

We should note however that the Cornhuskers are 0-5-1 Against The Spread in their last 6 games as a home favorite.  They are also 19-3-1 ATS in their last 23 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games as a home favorite of 3.5-10.0.  Ean Lamb reporting.
