Texas vs. Texas Tech

Texas vs. Texas Tech odds were listed at Texas Tech +3 ½ at BetED.com as of Saturday afternoon (this was an evening game).  The line had opened at +3.  BetEd.com was trying to encourage action on the Red Raiders due to the fact that the Longhorns were getting 75 percent of the betting action.

The verdict from Scouts Inc. on this game:

Texas hits the road for its first real challenge of the season in this conference showdown, and Longhorns coach Mack Brown must find a way to inspire his squad early on. Texas cannot sleepwalk through the first quarter this week because Texas Tech will be motivated at home, and an underrated defensive line should be able to slow the Texas rushing attack. However, watch for the Longhorns' athleticism on the perimeter to be too much for an average Texas Tech secondary. Gilbert will continue to mature and convert a few big throws to give Texas an early lead, while the Longhorns' pass rush will be too much for the immobile Potts. This consistent pressure will eventually force Potts into a few mistakes that result in costly turnovers and allow the Longhorns to pull away in the fourth quarter.

Something else to consider: The home team has gone 4 of 5 in this series but Texas has won 6 of the last 7, covering the current spread all but one time over this period.
