ESPN.com points out that, besides the Brett Favre issue, Minnesota has concerns about Sidney Rice (left) and Percy Harvin. And, oh yeah, the Vikes also have that big opener.

Sportsbetting.com has not placed odds on the Vikings potential to win the NFC North over the past week. It has put up odds for both the Bears and Lions winning that division (and Gambling911.com believes there is some value).

Vikings DE Jared Allen told ESPN on Thursday that he wants the QB to make a decision on his playing status for the 2010 season by the third preseason game. Otherwise, he said it would be unfair to keep backup Tarvaris Jackson hanging.

Favre met with his doctor on Friday to determine the status of his injured ankle.

Vikings coach Brad Childress has refused to set a deadline for Favre.

The Vikings' third preseason game is on Saturday, Aug. 28.
