Almost immediately after the shocking details of NFL great Lawrence Taylor's arrest, his wife was slated to appear on the Larry King Show.  King announced just minutes before airing that she had abruptly cancelled "after transportation had already been arranged".

Taylor's wife, Lynette, did tell King earlier in the day that she believed her husband was being set up.

Taylor was arrested earlier in the day on suspicion of rape involving a 16-year-old runaway.

Taylor's attorney, Kenneth Gribetz, told The Associated Press that he is "confident" Taylor, 51, will be exonerated.

From the Associated Press:

Police said the girl was reported missing by her family in March and had been staying with a 36-year-old parolee, Rasheed Davis, in the Bronx for a few weeks. Early Thursday morning, Davis beat her up, drove her to the hotel and told her she had to have sex with Taylor, police said. When she refused, Davis handed her over to Taylor, who sexually assaulted her, they said. Taylor paid her $300, which she gave to Davis, police said.

Davis "struck the young girl with his fist, kicked her and brought her to the Holiday Inn against her will," NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.

.....BetUS.com earlier last month posted odds on the next NFL team to have a player arrested.  Presumably this wager option only applies to current players.  But for the record, the New York Giants were at 10/1 odds.
