The Mariners offense has a 26% strikeout rate, the second-highest in MLB with a right-hander on the hill. Be careful here though. Seattle's current lineup is .421 against Kyle Gibson (11-6, 4.50). They've hit 24 of 57 at bats. There is hardly anyone among the Mariners who are not over .300 versus Gibson. He's also coming off of two wins.
The total on this one is 7.5. Seven of the last ten in this series have gone Over that number.
Ryan O'Hearn is 5-for-10 against Mariners starter Luis Castillo.
We do hate that the total is dropping from 8 to 7.5 plus that strikeout stat. That is keeping us from taking the Over here.
Since the break, Cincinnati's .304 wOBA is the sixth-worst facing right-handers. They will face off against Johan Oviedo, who has yielded no more than three runs in his other 15 outings, 12 of which registered as quality starts. The problem is, he plays for a hapless Pirates team that has struggled this season following a decent enough start. They are winning 50% of their games of late and have gone 8-2 in the last ten versus Cincinnati....if you dare to take Pitt at -115.
Justin Verlander, coming off a loss to the Yankees, will face off against the Angels. Their current roster has gone 27 of 160 at bats (.169). Shohei Ohtani is 4-for-20 against him but with two home runs.
Only three games in his series have stayed Under the current number of 7.5. Houston is doable at -170 but we don't like this line dropping the way it is.
Arizona has one win in their last ten games. San Diego is coming off four straight losses but those were against the Dodgers and to the Mariners on the road. Seattle is 7-3 in the last ten versus Arizona.
Blake Snell is 8-8 with a solid 2.61 ERA. Diamondbacks career statistics vs. Snell are just 14 of 104 at bats (.135). He has given up four home runs, two to Lourdes Gurriel Jr., who's got 18 this season.
After winning his prior two starts, Snell racked up eight strikeouts over five innings of three-run baseball in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Saturday.
Ryne Nelson is 6-6 with a 5.16 ERA. The Padres career statistics vs. Nelson are also weak. They are 11 for 61 (.180). He hasn't had a win in his last three starts.
Only four of the last ten in this series have gone OVER the current total of 9. Six of the last ten games for San Diego have resulted in five or more runs. They've also allowed five or more in half of those.
The Diamondbacks haven't been able to score more than four in their last ten and it's hard to see them doing so here. They haven't allowed a team to score more than four runs in seven of their last ten overall.
San Diego does not have one of the better bullpens at the moment and Snell probably won't get too far past the sixth inning.
