Minnesota Twins start Kenta Maeda, who has posted a 2.73 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP in his five starts since returning from the IL. He will face off against a Mariners offense that is questionable facing right-handers with the second-highest strikeout rate.
Maeda allowed two runs with nine strikeouts across 6 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Mariners his last start and has not factored into the decision in his last two.
He's at home here and the Twins have gone 8-2 in their last ten overall compared to the Mariners winning half of their last ten.
With 51 at bats, the Mariners are just 7 for 51 facing off against Maeda (.137). Seattle will also be without Jarred Kelenic Monday.
Luis Castillo is 6-7 with a 3.04 ERA. Castillo allowed three runs with 11 strikeouts over six innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Twins. He hasn't had a win in his last two.
In 44 at bats, the Twins current roster has 10 hits against him at .227.
Houston Astros career statistics vs. Jon Gray are 13 for 59 with 0 home runs (.220). He's 6-5 with a 3.31 ERA but hasn't tasted a win since early June.
He surrendered four runs in six innings Friday against the Guardians.
Brandon Bielak is 5-5 with a 3.46 ERA. He blanked the Rockies for 5 2/3 innings Wednesday to get the victory as the Astros prevailed 4-1.
Though an UNDER is tempting here, Texas has allowed a grand total of 31 runs in their last three games. OUCH!
In the end, the temptation is just too great not to take the Minnesota Twins here at -115 especially being that the Twins have scored 5 or more runs in eight of their last ten while keeping opponents at 4 or fewer runs scored in seven of their last ten games.
