OAKLAND PARK, Fla (Gambling911.com) -  We're seeing something happening in the college football betting landscape that we don't often see: Wagering based on rage, resentment and ridicule.

The old adage in gambling is to not bet with your heart, but plenty of people are doing that with this Oklahoma-Michigan matchup.

Dave Mason, Brand Manager for BetOnline Sports & Casino, reported Wednesday on X that Oklahoma was the most popular bet of the weekend by far, and that there were "just over two times more tickets on the Sooner spread than the number of spread bets on #1 Ohio State and #4 Texas combined."

Some of the bets on the Sooners were even coming from - GULP - Michigan.  Of course, these could be angry Western Michigan Broncos fans.

Looking at the most up-to-date numbers Friday morning, there were 4x more bets on the Sooners-Wolverines game than there are on the Longhorns-Buckeyes game, with Oklahoma the -5 point favorite

Looking at the splits 79% of the bets are on OU, but 52% of the money is on Michigan.

That explains why despite the overwhelming support for Oklahoma, the spread has gone from Sooners -5.5 to a current -5. It’s clear that professional bettors are backing the home team.

Michigan escaped with a controversial 13–12 victory over Western Michigan last week after replay officials incorrectly restored one second to the game clock, allowing quarterback Bryce Underwood to throw a game-winning 47-yard Hail Mary to J.J. Buchanan.

The Mid-American Conference issued a rare statement disputing the protocol used and submitted formal appeals to the NCAA FBS Oversight Committee and the College Football Playoff. The MAC is requesting that those bodies recognize Western Michigan as the actual winner of the game for purposes of their respective rankings, evaluations and selection deliberations, and take such other corrective action as may be within their authority.

Oklahoma -5

Michigan +5

Over/Under 43.5
