‘Frontline’ to Profile Macau: How Billions of Dollars Make it to the Gambling Ta

The popular and well produced PBS series “Frontline” this month (September 2014) will profile the Chinese gambling enclave of Macau.  Watch It Here

Veteran correspondent Lowell Bergman explores how this former Portuguese colony become the gambling capital of the world.  And, yes, Macau is bigger than Vegas….way bigger than Vegas.

Bergman, in collaboration with the Investigative Reporting Program at U.C. Berkeley, shows how hundreds of billions of dollars make their way to Macau’s gaming tables despite China’s currency controls, and how, in some cases, Chinese mobsters are part of the action.

Over the past few years, Macau has reported record profits month after month.  The tide may be turning a bit as the gambling Mecca has seen a downturn during the past three months.
