News that a robber had dropped bank notes after fleeing the scene at a Glasgow William Hill bookmaking shop had citizens flocking to find the cash.

The armed raid at William Hill occurred shortly before 4 pm Sunday.   Word circulated quickly that cash had been lying around the street.

Hours later, people were still turning up in Westmuir Street to see if there were any notes left.

But all they were greeted by was a police cordon, the Daily Record reported.

A 36-year old suspect was detained and later arrested.   His identity was not immediately known.  The suspect was to have appeared in court on Monday.
