In March 2013, then Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie, signed a bill making online gambling legal in the Garden State and Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel was quick to unveil its plans to capitalize on this multi-billion dollar industry.

Keith Smith, president and chief executive officer of Boyd Gaming Corp., told the Atlantic City Press at the time that the Borgata intended to quickly introduce online wagering once New Jersey officials finished the regulations.

“We look forward to being one of the first to launch in New Jersey,” Smith told casino analysts during a conference call on Boyd’s first-quarter earnings.

Fast forward to 2024 and those in the state can experience different casino games online with ease.

Those in the Garden State are among the chosen few who actually get to experience the closest thing to real play with the live dealer casino at Borgata.  This includes live dealer roulette, blackjack and even Crazy Time, considered the costliest casino game ever made. and features a live dealer overseeing a big money wheel, where you can win real significant money prizes.

Power blackjack is also offered on the Borgata online website.  Power blackjack is a variant of the card gambling game blackjack, modified by certain doubling and splitting rules, called "Power Double" and "Power Split," that are advantageous to the player, offset by the rule that, when the dealer makes a total of twenty two, any active player hands push rather than winning.

Casino analysts and lawmakers who helped push the online gambling bill through suggested the industry could generate revenues between $200 million and $1.2 billion annually.

As we head into 2024, $3.23 billion had been generated over the past year from online casino gaming in the U.S. with New Jersey accounting for a cool $1.5 billion.  At the halfway mark of 2023, the NJ online casino sector averaged $140 million monthly revenue. New Jersey collected over $160 million in taxes from authorized online casinos.
