With over 200 million active users, if Facebook were a country, it would rank eighth in population just ahead of Japan, Russia and Nigeria.  What better place to fuel the latest Texas Hold ‘Em Poker craze?

For those who said the poker phenomenon of the mid-2000's had died down, look no further than Facebook.  It's most popular application installed by users is none other than Texas Hold ‘Em.  To date, it's been played by over 11 million members of the popular social networking website according to the Financial Times of London.

Online poker rooms the likes of Doylesroom.com are hoping to capitalize on this craze.

"The thought process is that these folks who utilize the Texas Hold ‘Em poker application over at Facebook will ultimately begin playing in online poker rooms like Doyles for real cash," says Payton O'Brien of Gambling911.com.

Doyle Brunson, the face of Doyles Room, is a legend in the game.  Last week, he hosted an online poker bounty that featured the likes of Micky Rourke, Nicky Hilton and Jamie Lynn Sigler of Sopranos fame.

Getting back to Facebook, the leading publishers on the networking site are San Francisco's Zynga and London-based Playfish, which developed Pet Society and has attracted 60m players to its games in 18 months.
