The Faux Federalism of Chaffetz Graham Adelson Online Gambling Ban‬ (Video)

A recently drafted bill presented in Congress last week would seek to ban online gambling but the co-authors may be a bit misguided in what they are attempting to accomplish.

As the below video demonstrates, the so-called “Restoration of America’s Wire Act”, co-authored by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), really doesn’t apply to the Wire Act.

That 40-year-old law applied to sports betting only and certainly didn’t pertain to Internet gambling as the Web didn’t exist back then.

Parmar Mehul’s video points out that the US Justice Department acknowledged a “misinterpretation” of the Wire Act back in 2011, thus opening the floodgates for individual US states to begin offering real money online gambling (minus sports betting).
