Friends of Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps claim the record gold medal winner “only thinks about gambling” these days, more specifically about playing poker.

Gambling911.com just the other day featured a report on Phelps desire to become a poker pro

"I love to play, it's fun, it's exciting. It was more something so that I could have time to myself. I could relax, I could be myself, and I could have fun," Phelps said in a conversation with Card Player. "It's a place where I can be me. I've met some of my best friends at a poker table. Some of the kids I'm always with, who I talk to every day."

His friends claim the Olympic swimmer gambles away close to $25,000 a week.

"All Michael thinks about is gambling," a poker-playing friend told The National Enquirer, according to the Daily Mail. "Michael has a 'don't quit until you win' attitude which was great while he was swimming but could be costly playing poker."

A National Inquirer report indicated that it was poker player Zachary ‘Carter’ King who provided Phelps with that infamous bong he got photographed with back in 2008.
'This is not a good element for Michael to be hanging out with,' a source said. 'It's just going to get him in trouble - big trouble.'
