As first reported by Gambling911.com Monday, the biggest online poker room to date will begin offering bitcoin deposit and withdrawal options.  Depositing via bitcoin will be available as of today (January 8, 2014).  Withdrawal availability will follow shortly.

Americas Cardroom is set to add the bitcoin method this week with an official announcement forthcoming.

Unlike other bitcoin-online gambling sites, Americas Cardroom will continue to offer other methods of payouts such as person-to-person, checks and other popular deposit methods such as credit card.

This is some of the biggest news to hit the online poker sector in years and is likely to boost ACR’s traffic numbers threefold if not more.

Additionally other cardrooms on the Winning Poker Network will be offering the bitcoin option including True Poker, BetCRIS, Bookmaker, BetDSI.com and Black Chip Poker.

When depositing bitcoin customers will have this digital currency changed over to USD.

Deposit amounts will start at between $5-$1,000 and increase.

More details on the exchange rate used will be provided shortly.
