Jersey Won’t Allow Internet Gambling

Jersey has halted plans to allow for Internet gambling. The economic affairs scrutiny chairman has delayed any business by up to a month for the island, Channel One TV is reporting.

Deputy Mike Higgins said his panel needed time to assess the regulation.

A number of online gambling firms were looking to obtain licenses on the island.

Jersey is a British Crown Dependency just off the coast of Normandy, France.  Its population is just under 100,000.

A number of British island nations already benefit from the legalization of online gambling, including Isle of Man and Alderney.

British betting firms have located to these island nations in search of more enticing tax structures.
