Legends Sports Operative Philip Gurian Enters Guilty Plea
As reported by Gambling911.com Tuesday, Legends Sports operative Philip Gurian has agreed to waive grand jury indictment and plead guilty to conspiracy in connection to his role in an international sports betting ring.
Philip Gurian, 52, of Boca Raton, was one of nearly three dozen individuals charged last April for his connection to Panama-based Legends Sports.
Many operators in the online sports betting world feared the Gurian guilty plea as the reputed mobster is said to have collected and distributed wagering funds within the US on behalf of some 40 to 50 sports betting operations.
Gurian, described as a “master agent” is also believed to have raked in around $150,000 a day in gambling.
Gurian was initially deemed a flight risk but will be permitted to remain under house arrest until his February sentencing as per his Wednesday’s deal.
The charges could have carried up to 20 years prison time, however, under the plea agreement, Gurian is expected to serve between 15 and 24 months.
