Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey says her office is reviewing the business practices of Daily Fantasy Sports website Draftkings to ensure they are operating within the legal framework of current law.

Last week the State House News Service of Massachusetts asked Healey whether Draft Kings is an "illegal sports betting" operation or a "new, cool" business.

"The point is this: This is a new industry. It's something that we're reviewing, and we'll learn more about it," Healey responded.

Healey also confirmed that DraftKings itself initiated the review.

A massive ad blitz over the past two weeks has resulted in a closer look into the explosive new industry.  While 2006 gambling prohibition explicitly allows for fantasy sports, so-called Daily Fantasy contests were not available at the time and many experts believe they more closely mimic illegal sports betting.

New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone Jr. last week called for a Congressional study into the Daily Fantasy Sports industry.
