Plumes of smoke billowed across the Las Vegas Strip Saturday afternoon as a fire raged on the 14th floor pool deck of the sprawling Cosmopolitan Hotel, also known as simply The Cosmo.
An unknown number of guests have been evacuated from the 3000-room resort. There were no immediate reports of any injuries while damage estimates are not yet known.
"Alarms started going off and it became really chaotic.," a hotel guest from Los Angeles told CNN, "It's pretty crazy over here. There are fire trucks everywhere."
The fire was believed to have been contained as of late Saturday afternoon.
The property features a 100,000-square-foot casino.
