He made the decision to resign a few months early prior to his contract running out in order that a new Chairman could settle into the position.
"It was a personal decision," Lipparelli said. "Once I decided not to serve another term, I thought this would be the best way to go about a smooth transition. If I had waited until Dec. 31, the new chairman could have been in a tough spot with the Legislature bearing down."
Lipparelli said he informed Gov. Brian Sandoval of his intentions to leave the panel earlier this month.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board has been especially busy in recent months reviewing applications for the state’s newly developed online gambling industry. To date few dozen operators have already applied for licenses with intrastate Web gambling businesses expected to be up and running by the start of the new year.
