An Idaho Congressman has lashed out at his opponent for supporting an online gambling legalization initiative.

Idaho First District Republican candidate Raul Labrador is outraged that Congressman Walt Minnick is one of 70 co-sponsors of the legislation.

"There is legitimate fear that this bill, should it become law, will prove disastrous for families across the nation,” said Labrador.  “Under Minnick's bill, throwing thousands of dollars away will be just a click away for children and adults with gambling addiction issues."

Well, actually, the kiddies would need to have their parent’s credit card handy and, even then, they’ll need to provide documentation to ensure against identity theft.

The opponents of online gambling legalization fail to understand that the industry has long implemented the most stringent security platforms to prevent children and other unauthorized individuals from betting online with someone else’s credit cards.

The bill, authored by Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank, came out of a subcommittee markup with a vote of 41-22 in favor.

Last week, 45 of the U.S. Attorneys General delivered a letter to Congress expressing their opposition to legalized online gambling.
