Investigators Disrupt Alleged Las Vegas Sports Betting Embezzlement Scheme Tied to William Hill Kiosks
Authorities are investigating an alleged embezzlement scheme tied to online gambling and specifically the popular William Hill brand.
Nevada Gaming Control Board detectives disrupted the scheme this past week.
Shravan Singh and Paige Steiner each face charges. Steiner alone faces 290 charges. Both individuals are accused of altering sports betting William Hill kiosks in Las Vegas in order to steal money, documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained Thursday said.
Other alleged co-conspirators are named in court documents but are yet to be charged with any crime.
Steiner appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court on Thursday. Detectives allege Steiner worked with Singh to redeem “fraudulent vouchers for cash.”
Judge Rebecca Saxe released Singh on her own recognizance and did not set bail, records showed.
Singh is believed to have “completed fraudulent cash adjustments on 166 separate dates,” totaling nearly 3,000 separate instances, detectives investigating the matter claimed.
William Hill is the biggest operator of sportsbooks in the state of Nevada. They run over a hundred betting operations in the state.
