Unlike other online gambling payment processors charged over the past three years, Hellinger’s sentence was compounded due to additional alleged fraudulent activities.
His company, Payment Processing Center L.L.C., based in a mixed-use business park near Newtown, was closed in 2006 by federal regulators because of its role in an alleged telemarketing fraud that siphoned $60 million from the bank accounts of elderly victims.
Earlier in the day, Full Tilt Poker exec Nelson Burtnick, plead guilty to processing payouts for that online poker company.
