With last week’s announced acquisition of Covers.com by Tribune Media, one had to wonder what would become of all those sportsbook promotions appearing on their website for US-based customers.

It appears, for now at least, that Tribune Media will continue accepting online gambling ads from offshore companies despite no newspaper in the USA doing so for nearly ten years.

While Covers.com does not show banners for US-facing online casinos and sportsbooks, it does accept advertising for its lines and review pages.

Tribune subsidiary Gracenote said the total price tag of its acquisitions for all three Covers properties – including SportsDirect and Infostrada - would be approximately US $54m.
