Frank Lampard Disallowed Goal

Great Britain's second largest bookmaker, William Hill, is paying out to their customers who bet on Frank Lampard scoring against Germany after his goal was ruled out by the linesman and referee. The bookies estimate the payout will cost them a six figure sum.

Lampard put a shot in the net late in the first half that would have tied the score.  Most everyone, including the German coach (albeit after the game was over), believed Lampard's shot should have been counted as a goal.

Referee Jorge Larrionda saw otherwise and Germany used two second-half goals by Thomas Mueller for a 4-1 victory Sunday.

In light of the controversy over "bad" decisions by refs, William Hill has also released odds on whether video technology will be introduced at the next World Cup.  FIFA insists there is no place in the game for such technology including instant replay.
