12 Arrested Following Houston Gambling Raids: Military-Style Weapons Recovered
  • Authorities recover enough assault weapons and illegal gambling biz to “start a small war”
  • Doomsday bunker also discovered at one of the raided establishments
  • Enterprise raked in millions of dollars from illegal gambling, authorities say

Twelve individuals have been arrested in connection to running an illegal gambling ring out of the Houston area.

The businesses were tied to Houston bingo halls, one of which possessed enough military-style weapons to “start a small war”, authorities say.

The raids commenced earlier this past week at Paradise Bingo and five other gambling establishments following a year-long investigation.

“There was a bunker here; it may be something more doomsday-ish,” Harris County Attorney Devon Anderson said Friday after the massive sweep, the Chronicle reported.

“It was enough to start a small war in this area if they wanted to,” Lt. Ruben Diaz of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement to the local press.

“They were pretty scary to have in this building.”

Authorities claim the illegal enterprise raked in millions of dollars.
