$2 Million Bond Set for West Palm Beach Mob Suspect
- Pasquale “Patsy” Capolongo among 46 named in indictment tied to five East Coast crime families
- Prosecutors say Capolongo threatened a cooperating witness who had hundreds of thousands in gambling debts
- His ex-wife, brother and sister-in-law, agreed to put up their homes as collateral and co-sign the $2 million bond
- Prosecutors had sought to keep Capolongo behind bars with no bond
A $2 million bond has been set by a federal judge, the honorable William Matthewman, for a West Palm Beach County man, one of six in that county charged in a wide-ranging organized crime indictment out of New York last week.
Pasquale “Patsy” Capolongo and five other men from Boca Raton and Delray Beach were named in the 46-person indictment with various charges that include extortion, gambling, gun-running, violent acts of retribution, loan-sharking and more.
The operation has ties to the Genovese, Gambino, Luchese, Bonanno, and Philadelphia Crime Families of LCN, each of which allegedly formed a rare pact to form the East Coast Enterprise.
Prosecutor Aurora Fagan referred to Capolongo as an agent for a Costa Rican-based sportsbook who was already out on bond in an unresolved 2015 Broward county bookmaking case. Prosecutors say Capolongo threatened a cooperating witness who had hundreds of thousands in gambling debts. His ex-wife, brother and sister-in-law, agreed to put up their homes as collateral and co-sign the $2 million bond. Prosecutors had sought to keep Capolongo behind bars with no bond.
One count mentioned in last week’s indictment alleges a Philadelphia mob boss ordered a beatdown of panhandler he believed was harassing customers outside his Bronx restaurant, telling a cohort to "break his ... knees."
