If you think it's deja vu, you're not imagining things.

Back in July, two sportsbooks shut down in Colorado.

SuperBook announced it was shutting down its Colorado sportsbook on July 19.

One week earlier, on July 11, Betway announced it's decision to depart the US, including the Colorado sports betting market.

BetFred followed suit in August.

“Launching Betfred Sports online betting in Colorado and Iowa in time for the football season is a significant milestone for us,” Betfred USA Sports COO Bryan Bennett said in an announcement four years ago.

Now comes word that BetSafe opted to close down just as the 2024 college football season is getting underway.

The company issued this notice to customers on Saturday:

Dear BetSafe customers,

Please be advised that Colorado BetSafe sportsbook mobile app will permanently close on September 30, 2024.

Registrations and deposits will not be accepted after September 6, 2024 and new bets cannot be placed after September 16, 2024.

You will need to withdraw all your funds by September 27, 2024.  All accounts will be closed on September 30, 2024.

If you have any questions, please contact customer service."

And what about all those future bets?

They'll no longer count as BetSafe only operated in Colorado, unlike BetFred, which continues to operate in some states and across the globe.  Customers have some recourse there at least.

The trend is an ugly one and shows no sign of stopping when it comes to U.S. regulated websites.

Meanwhile, our friends offshore continue to thrive more than ever.  BetUS is on the verge of celebrating its 31st year in business.

BetSafe going under and following in the steps of at least a dozen other regulated U.S. sportsbooks is yet another reason why Gambling911.com refuses to drink the Kool Aid.
