Sports Gambling Hall of Fame

The 2026 inductees into the Sports Gambling Hall of Fame were being announced this week with the first inductee being one Mort Olshan.

Olshan founded The Gold Sheet in 1957, a weekly sports betting publication providing handicapping tips, predictions and trends that would go on to become one of the most influential sports betting guides in the United States.

Olshan is one of three in memoriam inductees (the other two having not been announced at the time of publication) as he passed away in 2003.

Even years after his passing, Olshan’s work lived on through The Gold Sheet’s continued influence and respect among bettors, analysts, and handicappers.

The Sports Gambling Hall of Fame debuted on August 11, 2023 with its first class of inductees being honored that year.

A ceremony is held each years at the Circa Casino as part of BetBash, a gathering of sports gambling enthusiasts.  The event was founded by professional sports bettor Gadoon "Spanky" Kyrollos.
