Former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara is joining CNN as a senior legal analyst, a CNN spokesman revealed this past week.  Bharara made his first appearance on the 24 hour cable news network during its “State of the Union” program with Jake Tapper Sunday morning.

Bharara helped bring down online poker ponzi scheme Full Tilt Poker in April 2011, an action dubbed “Black Friday” in reference to the day of the week in which the indictments were handed down.  Ultimately, Bharara helped get most, if not all, monies owed to customers returned.

Bharara was fired as U.S. Attorney in March by President Donald Trump, after refusing to resign his post when asked to do so by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Bharara joins CNN, a unit of Time Warner Inc (TWX.N), at a time when the cable network faces numerous accusations of being “fake news” from President Trump on Twitter.
