Last month, the poker community went into complete meltdown after ClubWPT Gold reposted a video of a woman twerking on the poker table following a big win.
The female twerker, later identified as "Rose" might not have been the problem. It goes much deeper.
This was evidently not a one-off when it comes to what some have deemed ClubWPT Gold's "irresponsible" social media posts.
To be clear, we've seen this in the past with other big brands.
ClubWPT Gold's "twerk" repost really struck a nerve however.

Twerk Meltdown
Hustler Casino Live’s high-stakes regular Sashimi first posted a clip on X that sent the poker world into meltdown mode.
Sashimi’s title above the post read: "American poker is like this."
The post received over 1 million views combined across platforms, with most commenters expressing disgust. In particular, they questioned why a site like ClubWPT Gold would repost the video, thus providing it with more exposure.
After ClubWPT Gold reposted the video, Twitter went nuts.
Poker pro Robbi Jade Law writes:
"Ngl guys… I’m sure you mean well… but mmm this was a bit much even for adult eyes."
Vanessa Kade added:
"ew, what the actual fuck."
Professional poker player Abby Merk blasted ClubWPT Gold for reposting the clip.
"another unbelievably disappointing post from clubwpt gold. part of having a platform is knowing how to use it. what could possibly have been the point of this except for to get clicks by demeaning women??,
"'gto players took this from us' as if this is what you WANT TO SEE WOMEN REDUCED TO??? sex symbols in the industry? lame as f. do better."
Continuing Pattern
Jessica Wellman of SBC Gaming noted that WPTClub Gold hasn't stopped the insensitive tweets.
Wellman presented their latest tweet, which shows a man on a treadmill who apparently is using the rent money to gamble on WPTClub and either the roommate or landlord isn't happy about the situation.
"This right here is a prime example of what is shockingly problematic and yet unfixed about this brand. Even worse, those affiliated with it will tell you this flagrant disregard for responsible messaging is a feature, not a bug."

Wellman added: "100% my worst take of the year was that @ClubWPTGold would help legitimize and professionalize sweeps in '25.
"Not only did it tarnish the vertical, it arguably tarnished the mother brand and even online poker overall. It's almost impressive."
Herein lies the problem. When it comes to poker, the WPT, or World Poker Tour, is arguably one of the most esteemed brands in poker.
Some seemed to like the tweet.
Gabriel Ramos responded: "Even if you dont think it’s funny (I’m sorry, I did) I don’t see what’s wrong with it. It actually alludes to fact that people are using money irresponsibly to gamble instead of just standard advertising that neglects realities."
Wellman double downed on her stance.
"It is not a good look for a tour or site to tacitly encourage this behavior. In fact, if regulated, this is the kind of thing that gets you fined, and deservedly so."
