A sports bettor on Reddit inquired about an email from DraftKings extending him an. offer to join their VIP program.

Typically when you are invited to join a VIP program, top rewards are anticipated.  Case in point, land-based casino VIP programs typically result in free rooms and/or upgrades.

So is the DraftKings VIP program all that it's cracked up to be.

This individual inquired within the Reddit community:

"I received this email from DraftKings extending me an offer to their VIP Program. I have a couple questions and wanted to see if anyone has joined it.

"My primary concern (other than increasing my bet size and then losing all my money) is that if I keep winning they will limit me. This would be very bad if I max out the deposit offer and am forced to play through $10000 with ~$10 bets. Also, it would seem that if I plan to keep winning, the last thing I would want is DraftKings evaluating my play as the emails says.

"It also says they give away game tickets and enhanced promotions. How common do they give these out and are the promotions actually any good? It would make sense that they only give out the good stuff to people who are losing large amounts of money with them.

"It is an intriguing offer but sounds like it could backfire pretty poorly. Or it could be great and I could get some nice perks out of it. Has anyone joined their VIP program and had any good or bad experiences with it?"

There were positive responses:

"If you have a decent bankroll and know how to convert promos for profit (matched betting), then this is awesome. They usually follow the same format. Initial 30% match up to $3k. Then it’s three weeks of VIP showcase. The offers usually show up on Thursdays. First week is some kind of deposit match, second week is a parlay promo, and the third week is another deposit match. To max these out you’ll deposit around $10k per week and have to play through it to unlock the bonus bets. With matched betting this is very doable, and if you hedge on a book like MGM you’ll probably end up a VIP there as well. I went through this a few months ago so my exact numbers might be off, but this was basically the route I took. I think I was net positive like $3-4k after the VIP showcase. I didn’t do any parlay betting so I didn’t get the VIP."

"I joined their vip and didn't have any problems so far. Note that u don't need to deposit the maximum $10K to receive VIP status and bonuses. I just deposited $2K and they gave me the 30% deposit match and 3 weeks of showcase which is $300 bonus bets. Great deal and plus u have a vip host to say resolve future problems."

"The vip showcase is really good. Made me bet way more than I usually do, but got thousands of dollars in bonus bets."

"Got VIP like 3 years ago and the bonuses tapered off over time but I made good money on it while it lasted. Take advantage while you can!"

Then there were the negative experiences, mostly pertaining to DraftKings policy of limiting winning players.

"I got the same email. Told them I wasn’t going to deposit money since I had built my bankroll up considerably. Was entered anyways and eventually approved for their VIP program. Limited immediately thereafter and never heard from my VIP host. lol"

"lol. I got this offer last year, and found games with basically equal juice. I kept cross betting, and pocketed roughly $2800 and change. Now dk won’t give me anything higher than a $10 max sgp boost, and I’m guessing because they were the side I won on while cross betting."

"My average bet was $200. Once I was approved my max bet is now $28.57 and sometimes even lower."

"Everyone I know maxed the showcase. They all also bet a bunch of degen shit like first baskets so maybe they flew under the radar. I’m limited to low amounts but I was a bad boy. The other people I know can still bet thousands on everything and they’ve hit the show case and all other offers."
