The host of “The Pat McAfee Show” on ESPN stopped himself mid-sentence after an ad for the ESPN-sponsored and Penn Entertainment-operated sportsbook ESPN Bet appeared on the screen.

“Things are going great here,” McAfee said sarcastically as he pointed to the ESPN Bet logo on the screen. “Not at all.”

Yeah, ESPN Bet fell short of its expected earnings...Way short.

Penn Entertainment stock fell as much as 15% on Thursday morning after the company reported its first full quarterly earnings with numbers from ESPN Bet with Penn's stock closing Thursday at $15 a share, down 8.76%.

Revenue from its online segment, which includes ESPN Bet, was $208 million, lower than consensus estimates of about $237 million.

It probably doesn't help that people don't like the app.

One person on Twitter said: "ESPN bet is one of the most pathetic betting apps ever. Completely worthless and pointless using it. Use any other app but them. Worst promos and worst odd's. They purposely stack the deck against you. DO NOT TRUST ESPN BET. Lose your money anywhere else."

Another wrote: "ESPN should not be in the gambling biz What could go wrong? Fool$ line their pockets."
