Evolution Malta Holding Limited’s Operational License Under Review in UK

Evolution has been informed by the U.K. Gambling Commission that it has commenced a review of Evolution Malta Holding Limited’s operating license under Section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005. The review was initiated after the Commission identified Evolution games being accessible from the U.K. through operators not holding a Commission license.

The review can have a range of outcomes, which include no action being required, conditions being imposed on the license, financial sanction, suspension and revocation of the license to operate.

The news comes just weeks after BC.Game was forced to exit the UK market following reports of bankruptcy in Curacao.  BC.Game had entered into a multi-million dollar shirt sponsorship deal with the Leicester City football club.

"BC.Game have provided the club with the strongest assurances that they are actively appealing this case, and that the process which has been initiated in Curacao is administrative in nature and has not arisen due to any concerns with their financial standing," that gambling firm said last month.

”BC.Game have further assured us that they have no issues with liquidity and that they remain fully committed to meeting their ongoing contractual and financial obligations, including to the club, and that this case will not impact on BC.Game’s continuing international operations."

Evolution is cooperating fully with the Commission and has taken requested immediate actions to remedy the situation. Games on the identified websites not holding a Commission license have been made unavailable from the UK. Evolution continues to actively work with the Commission to resolve this matter.

About 3% of Evolution’s revenue is from the U.K. market.
